“Mercer ER to Present Back to School Give Back Food Drive on Aug. 12”
Victoria, Texas— Mercer Emergency Center, a freestanding ER located at 6902 Zac Lentz Parkway, invites the public to join them in giving back to area families by donating either canned good or cash donations to the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent on Saturday, Aug. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mercer Emergency Center parking lot and inside the ER, located right in front of the Home Depot.
“We applaud the work of the local food bank and are excited to partner with them on this event. When you think of back to school, you think of families gathered around the dinner table after their day at work and school. Some of those families can’t provide enough food to feed their families and we are so very blessed to have organizations like the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent to fill this void, “ said Dr. Victor Ho, CEO of Mercer Emergency Center.
For the event, families are invited to drive through the parking lot and drop off their donations, come inside for refreshments and a tour. All that donate will be entered for a chance to win a family four pack to Schlitterbahn Waterpark. Take a tour of Mercer’s free standing ER and get a second entry in the drawing.
“What an exciting opportunity to welcome and partner with Mercer Emergency Center as they help those in our community who face food insecurity. Every can or dollar donated will assist those facing hunger. Every dollar donated helps us provide 8 meals,” said Robin Cadle, President and CEO of the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent to help drive in donations during some of their slower donation times. We know so many of you will be out shopping for back to school. We encourage you to stop by and educate your family on the wonderful work being done in our community by the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, as well as cool off with some refreshments inside our beautiful, state-of-the-art freestanding ER,” said Cindy Rodriguez Hicks, Director of Marketing of Mercer Emergency Center.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature opportunities to donate to the Food Bank and learn more about their organization, tour Mercer as well as meet with the local doctors that staff the ER every day. While visiting, visitors are encouraged to ask them their back to school questions related to their child’s and/or family’s health. There will be several door prizes given out throughout the day.
“We know some families struggle with back to school expenses. The decision comes down to food or school supplies. On Saturday, August 12, we hope you will support this event either with canned food donations or cash donations. Help us make a difference right here at home,” said Dr. Jimmy Grossman, President of Mercer Emergency Center.
